TASI

Year: 2021 to 2023.

Project type: Spanish Project co-funded by CDTI, programme PTA PYMES.

Participants: 4 Enterprises, 2 Tech Centers.

The overall objective of the TASI-UAS project is the definition and development of new technologies in flight critical systems for specific category UAS, such as transponders or energy management systems.

CATUAV will be responsible of the following activities as well as the systems integration and flight testing + evaluation campaigns:

  • Reactive guidance algorithms for collision avoidance (linked with tactical deconfliction subsystem): In the event that the tactical deconfliction functionality does not work as expected and the UAS enters a collision zone with another aircraft, it is necessary to act automatically in the shortest amount of time. These algorithms will be designed and tested.
  • Design of a new class UAV able to integrate all systems and subsystems designed: This UAV will be able to integrate seamless all systems developed to demonstrate and validate the capabilities, features and combined operation in a simulated real operation under BVLOS rules. It will be an experimental platform designed specifically as an aerial laboratory for controlled validation purposes.
  • Systems integration and validation in laboratory: That includes functional verification of each subsystem and integrations between the different subsystems to check that the interfaces at the electronic and logical level are correctly implemented. These laboratory validation tests are essential to verify the correct operation of the technological prototypes before starting the integration in the UAS for BVLOS test operations in a controlled environment.
  • UAS integration and flight campaigns for test and validation: CATUAV will integrate all systems in the new class UAV designed and will provide the BCN Drone Center facilities to the overall test and validation in a controlled environment inside the TSA-31 segregated airspace, expecting full validation of all systems involved in a BVLOS operation simulated scenario.
