CATUAV develops a dynamic balancing system for mini-UAV

Vibrations aboard a UAV are especially harmful because they induce interference in accelerometers and gyroscopes in the inertial system and reduce the quality of captured images. CATUAV has developed the first mercury dynamic balancer for mini-UAV with a diameter of only 28 mm and a total weight of 2,1 g that reduces vibrations caused by differences in moments of inertia and harmonic resonances. This balancing device is built with a 3D printer with a resolution of 16 microns and is being tested successfully in a ATMOS-6 mini-UAV.
