Thermal cameras detect radiation in the range of the electromagnetic spectrum of 8–14 µm and produce images of that radiation. The amount of radiation emitted by an object is proportional to its temperature, so thermography allows us to see variations in temperature in the scene independently of the area illumination.

A high resolution thermal camera has been integrated in our UAV systems that allow us to acquire aerial thermal images with its associated geographic coordinates.

Main features of CATUAV aerial thermal images are:

  • 640 x 480 pixels image resolution.
  • 8 – 12 μm spectral band.
  • 24h delivery: the time from UAV takeoff to image delivery is less than 24h.
  • Images delivered in any desired industry standard format.

From the acquired thermal images, orthophotos can be generated if required. Furthermore we can obtain application specific thermal calibration in order to be able to associate each pixel of the image to its real temperature and generate temperature maps. These capabilities allows us to implement our technology in a huge range of applications, such as:
